Nelune raises over $2 Million
On Saturday 13th of September, the annual Nelune Foundation Lilac Ball was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney, where guests were urged to open their hearts and pockets to raise major dollars for the Foundation.
Over the past few years, we’ve been involved in creating media content for Nelune, and this year, happily donated our services in producing their Feature Video for the event.
Our video was debuted to over 500 guests at the ball, and assisted in raising $2,011,089.00 for The Nelune Foundation, and the ongoing construction of the Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre at Randwick’s Prince of Wales Hospital. According to Nelune herself, the video contributed $1.99m towards the evening.
The Feature Video was filmed on location at Prince of Wales Hospital over two days. All interview content was shot in their newly built Radiotherapy Bunkers, which were part of the first construction stage of the new facility, with various B-Roll material being filmed around the existing facility in Randwick.
All interviews were shot with two cameras, on our Sony FS700 with 4K Recorder, and our Red Scarlet-X, both equipped with gorgeous Arri/Zeiss Master Anamorphic lenses provided by Gear Head’s Sean Glasson.
We captured the intimate and very personal interviews with an eye to showcasing some of the new facility. While each interview took place in a wide, and open space of the new facility, we were still able to create a comfortable and intimate environment that each interviewee was able to feel confident in sharing their very personal cancer journey. Our second camera operator, Andrew McClymont, was also able to capture some great moments as each interviewee took a tour of the new site for the first time.
Producer and Director of the piece, Ben Hasic, conducted each interview, adapting a heartfelt creative treatment written by Tess Brewer, who directed the previous year’s video. Every interviewee opened their hearts to tell their difficult stories, and as you can see through the video, we received some incredibly brave and touching moments of honesty, with one interviewee describing her time of treatment as being confronted by her own mortality.
In the edit suite, we pulled together a very touching and tasteful story, really honestly portraying each person’s cancer journey. With an understated graphics package designed by Brad Chandler, and some minimal compositing work by Bill McGuire, the whole piece has come together beautifully.
Overall, the team is incredibly proud of the end product, and are so happy to see such generosity towards The Nelune Foundation and Cancer Research.
